Halloween in the Mountains!

We went to the Mountains on Friday, the 30th and came home on Sunday evening. Justin and Kayla went with us and we really enjoyed the beautiful trees and mountains! As many times as we have been to the mountains, I don't remember ever going in October when the leaves were peaking. They weren't 100% but they were still very pretty.
When we got there Friday, we went straight to Cades Cove. Saw several deer and a lot of turkeys! We rode back to Cades Cove on Saturday to horseback ride but after the rains, the creek was too high for the horses to cross. Then Sunday we rode back out and Justin and Kayla finally got to go horseback riding and David & I went for a carriage ride. :)
Our driver told us that the Cades Cove loop road will be closed next year from March to May so that they can repave the road! He said that is the first time in 75 years that it has ever been closed. Interesting!! But it sure will be nice when it is freshly paved.

Weekend Trip

On Oct. 2 we left for Knoxville, TN. Got up Saturday morning and went to the Musuem of Applachia. It was really interesting, with a lot of old log cabin displays and a lot of old artifacts from the area. We left that afternoon and headed for Asheville, NC but took a little detour into Gatlinburg for some CarmelKorn and a wind chime. :)

Then back on the road to Asheville for a tour of the Biltmore House on Sunday. We really enjoyed touring the house and gardens! Beautiful!! It is so amazing what they could do in the late 1890's. The architecture and furnishings were great!

After stopping for supper, we headed back home. Got in around 10 that night but glad to be back in "our bed".

Love Those Mountains.....

Last Friday David and I went to the Smoky Mountains for our anniversary. Saturday we drove around Cades Cove. Saw several deer and a couple of bears. The deer were very close up but the Bears were far away (just the way I like it). Saturday evening we went to "Magic Beyond Belief". Terry Evanwood is a really good magician and many times you ask yourself "how did he do that". We highly recommend his show if you are in Pigeon Forge. We came back home on Sunday and had a father's day supper with the kids, so we had a very wonderful, blessed, weekend!
Wishing everyone a great week!

Our Fire Pit

Last weekend we finally got to our fire pit. David built it on Saturday and we tried it out a couple of nights later. We made a small fire, but really enjoyed it. We are looking forward to sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows with Maclain!

Fun Weekend!

On Friday we went to the Barnum and Bailey Circus in Huntsville! Cassie got us front row seats so we really had a great time and it was precious watching through Maclain's eyes.
Saturday afternoon Charlotte (David's sister) came up and spent the night on her way through to her son in Tennessee. We enjoyed the evening visiting with her.
And then Sunday morning we got up to Snow! It was really pretty while it lasted. Maclain and his mom and dad came over and played in the snow a little with Pawpaw.
Everyone have a great week! :)

Have a Blessed Day!

Hey.... well it's almost been a month since my last post. As you can see, not much exciting around here.... LOL.
We've unpacked a few more boxes and painted a little more. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up some so that I can go through more boxes and see what's left to do.
Wishing everyone a great week! Stay warm!

Let's Get Ready for a New Year!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Our family did. On Christmas day the kids came over early and we had a little breakfast and opened gifts. Later my brother, Barry, and his daughter Ashley and his granddaughter Brooklyn came up for Christmas Dinner. We really enjoyed getting to visit with them since we don't get together often enough.

As we get older, we realize how precious time is and we need to make time for the important things in life. Especially spending time with family and friends.
On Friday after Christmas we went to the Smoky Mountains! We stayed in a little cabin (house) really close to Pigeon Forge. Friday night we drove around and looked at the Christmas lights. Maclain really enjoyed that! Saturday we looked around the Old Mill and that night went to see The Comedy Barn. The show was funny and we all enjoyed that. Sunday morning we all got ready and had breakfast at the Log Cabin Pancake House. I can recommend the "French Toast Royale"! Cassie told me about it from the last time she visited and I had to try it. It was yummy! Then we went up to Gatlinburg to the Aquarium. We all enjoyed seeing the fish and Maclain really liked going through the tunnel and seeing all the sharks, fish and stingrays! We came home on Monday and are now counting down to the New Year!
We are settled in our new home, and are really loving it here! I am off work this week so I have many little projects ready to tackle. I still have things out in the garage that need to come inside, so hopefully by the weeks end, things will be more settled. I want to do a little more painting and organize closets so we will see how much I get done.
Well, I want to wish everyone a Very HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that we can all learn to slow down and enjoy every day and learn what the important things in life are.... our family, our friends, and our health. May God Bless you today and every day of the New Year!

Garage Update.... IT IS FULL!

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks because we have been very busy. But we closed on the sale of our house yesterday afternoon and also closed on our new home! The garage is full as we can't move into our new home until Jared and Cassie get to start moving in their new home next week. We are VERY glad we built the garage. Hopefully, this time next week we will be in, maybe not settled, but in. :)

We are so very thankful for the blessings that we have. If you read Cassie's blog you have found out that we have another grandbaby on the way!

Well, I have plenty to get started on, so I pray for each of you to have a blessed day!!
